Kwento Ko, Kwento Natin: What If You Could Turn Memory Into Connection? Into Art?

By Marie. August 17, 2025

Dear Educators,

What if your students could draw their childhood home—and discover a story waiting inside? What if a simple map of their barangay could spark a conversation about history, identity, and belonging? What if you could turn memory into treasures? Into connection? Into Art?

Memory as Map: Storytelling Rooted in Place and Feeling is a workshop for educators, too! Those who want to bring storytelling into the classroom—not as a formal essay, but as a living, breathing experience.

In this half-a-day workshop, teachers will explore how memory-based storytelling can support subjects like Literature, English, Social Studies, and Art. You’ll try the activity yourself, reflect on your own stories, and leave with a flexible framework you can adapt for your students.

Why memory?

Because it’s where learning begins.
Because every student has a story worth telling.
Because when we connect personal experience to place, we build empathy, cultural awareness, and deeper understanding.
Because it turns into treasures, into connection, into art.

🌸What they said of the workshop

"I didn’t expect my own memories to surface so vividly. Now I see how this could help my students write with heart—not just for grades." -Literature Teacher, Grade 10

"Even my shyest students would love this. It’s not about perfect grammar—it’s about remembering, drawing, and sharing. That’s where real learning begins." -Elementary Teacher, Grade 5
"This workshop reminded me that storytelling isn’t just a skill—it’s a way to connect. I can already imagine adapting this for our identity unit." -English Teacher, Senior High
